Update 11-3-2002: Tor Lillqvist, of earlier
GIMP-to-Windows-ports fame, has released GIMP 1.2.3. for Windows!
You may download it from

Apparently there's some unclarity about WinGIMP 1.2.2.,
so let me explain.
- At the time of writing (17 August 2001), there's a GIMP
version 1.2.2. for Unix-like systems. This is the current
official GIMP release.
- All Windows GIMP versions are unofficial.
They are not supported, because there basically is no-one to
support them. This will (hopefully) change with GIMP 1.4,
which will be the next official release (bar further bug fixes
in the 1.2 branch).
- No-one has made a port of GIMP 1.2.1 or 1.2.2. to Windows,
unofficial or not, as far as I know.
- I collected the system independent files from the Unix
GIMP 1.2.2. distribution and put them in a separate file, so
that WinGIMP users can take advantage of at least that part
of the upgrade.
- Since the most recent WinGIMP version is 1.2.0., this means
I intended this collection to be used with WinGIMP version 1.2.0.
- As far as I know, these additions work fine with WinGIMP 1.2.0. If you are in doubt, make a back-up copy of the files you replace.
- The files should be working fine, as 1.2.2. is about fixing bugs. The development leaders are very adamant in not adding features to the 1.2 branch.
- I will not be porting GIMP 1.2.2. to Windows, for the very simple reason that my programming skills are way to limited for that.
